The Skistar Swedish Open will crown a new champion tomorrow when Italian Fabio Fognini meets Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the singles final.
Fognini is ranked higher (15) than Gasquet (29), but the latter leads 2-1 in head to head meetings on the ATP World Tour. It's the first time for both of them reaching the final in Båstad -- in Gasquet's case on the first try.
"On clay he's one of the best," Gasquet said about Fognini. "It's a final, it's important to win, so I'll try my best."
Fognini, who beat Fernando Verdasco (Spain) in the semifinals, has won six singles titles in his career, all of them on clay.
Gasquet beat Henri Laaksonen (Switzerland) to qualify for his 31st ATP final. He has won 15 so far, all of them at the 250 level.
The doubles final will feature second seeds Julio Peralta (Chile)/Horacio Zeballos (Argentina) against Simone Bolelli (Italy)/Fabio Fognini (Italy)
FOGNINI WINS 6-3, 3-6, 6-1
